Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 September 2026
Hobly is an iPhone app that plans a week of dinners, prices them at your supermarket and writes your shopping list. This policy explains what personal data we handle and why. We keep it short and we don't sell your data.
Who we are
Hobly is provided by CLIQUE CLO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16683401), 24–26 Regent Place, Birmingham, B1 3NJ, United Kingdom. We are the data controller. Contact: hello@hobly.app.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Account details — email address and password (stored hashed), or your Apple ID token and, if you choose to share them, your name and (possibly private-relay) email from Sign in with Apple. You can also use Hobly without an account; we then create an anonymous account ID on your device. | To create your account, keep your plans on any device and let you sign in. | Contract |
| Your preferences — country, supermarket, weekly budget, household size, cooking days, meal "vibes", dietary choices, ingredients you dislike, kitchen appliances. | To build and price your weekly plan. | Contract |
| Your activity in the app — plans, meals, shopping-list ticks, saved and rated recipes, recipes you add yourself (including any photo you attach) and links you share to Hobly. | To run the features you use. | Contract |
| Subscription status — product, trial/renewal dates and a transaction ID from Apple. We never see your card details. | To unlock Hobly Pro and support refunds/restores. | Contract |
| Referral data — your referral code, which account used it, whether that friend subscribed, the commission earned, and the PayPal or bank details you give us for payouts. | To run the Referral Programme and pay you. | Contract |
| Support emails you send us. | To help you. | Legitimate interests |
Dietary choices (e.g. vegan, gluten free) are used only to filter recipes. Please don't rely on Hobly to manage allergies — see our Terms.
We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage, hosted in London (AWS eu-west-2).
- Anthropic — AI used to read recipes from links you share, estimate nutrition and write short plan notes. We send recipe content, not your account details. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- Apify — fetches public video captions and subtitles for recipe links.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and push infrastructure, under Apple's own privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
- PayPal and our bank — only if you cash out referral earnings, to send you the money.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK (for example in the United States). Where they do, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the UK–US data bridge or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. Delete your account in Settings → Delete account and we erase your household, plans, lists, saved and personal recipes and your login immediately; backups roll off within 30 days. Anonymous accounts that are unused for 12 months are deleted. We keep minimal subscription records where the law requires (for example, for tax).
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Email hello@hobly.app and we'll reply within one month.
Children
Hobly is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
